Are you afraid to fail? I’ve got good news for you! You’re not alone. Most people are. But I’m going to tell you the secret of how to never be afraid of failure. You know why I’m not afraid of it? I’m not afraid to fail at all. I don’t fear failure because I’ve failed more times that I can count.  I don’t fear it because I look at failure differently than most people. Funny story…My brother always used to say to me I was the most successful failure he’s ever known. I was always amused by that. He’s right though. I might have failed a lot, but I’ve also had many successes in my life. If I didn’t fail and try again I would never have had the courage to try again, and again, and again and keep trying until I made it.

I’ve lost it all multiple times and built it all back up again. I’ve started multiple successful businesses and even a Million dollar company. It was only a million dollar company on paper based on the valuation which was based on sales, but it was a million dollar company nonetheless. So yeah…I know what I’m talking about when it comes to success and failure. Success only comes if you go through enough failures. Most people fail on their first try…and second, and third, and fourth and so on. The difference between those who succeed and those who fail is that those that succeed tried one more time or a hundred more times or a thousand times more than those who failed. Those who failed failed because they quit trying.

Success only comes to those who keep trying. Some get it the first time out. Most who do that though are lucky. Some are truly talented. Michael Jordan, Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Tiger Woods, Elon Musk…all have failed at times and all are successful.

Understand that failure will happen no matter what you do or how you try to prevent it.

Expect it and the fear magically evaporates.

This isn’t to say be negative about it. I’m saying embrace the fear, let it flow out of you by knowing that failure will happen and prepare yourself for it’s inevitability. This way you’re already ready to move forward when you do get hit with it.

Understand that failure is a part of life. Failure isn’t something to be ashamed of. It’s nothing to be embarrassed about because you had the courage to TRY.

Failure isn’t something to be afraid of. (unless of course you could DIE or be injured if you fail) Then a healthy amount of fear tempered with respect is encouraged. In fact, true courage is action in the face of fear and danger. It takes courage to realize that you could fail and to do it anyway. It takes courage to take action knowing that there might be a good possibility you will fail.

This is where discipline and persistence come together. It takes discipline (and maybe a bit of stubbornness) to power through and keep going even when failure is breathing down your neck.

It take strength to lift yourself up. I did it more times than I can count. Failure is part of success. It’s on the path to success. People give up too soon and let failure get to them. They let it win. They give up.

Practice. Persistence. Perfection. These things will get you to where you want to be. It’s ok to be proud when you beat failure. When you fail and get back up and keeping moving forward no matter how bad it hurts. Success doesn’t come to everyone because most people quit when shit gets tough. Most people give up when the going gets tough. It’s how you handle it that makes you who you are and that will allow you to reach your goal and ultimate success.

Ask yourself what you want and go for it! Set your goals. Know that it’s ok to change them. Know that you will most likely fail the first time you try something. Don’t be so afraid of failure that you never try. Know what you want. Want it! I mean really want it more than anything. See it. Envision it. Envision yourself living in the moment of success and keep going until you reach it. When failure steps up and knocks you down, get back up and keep moving forward. Power through it and you will eventually succeed.

Be PROUD! If you’ve ever failed and kept going to eventual success, be proud of that feat. Be very proud! You did it! You powered through adversity and you succeeded.

I know the feeling well. I’ve failed many more times than I succeeded, but my successes were much richer for it. I’ve made more money, travelled to more places, met more people and done more exciting things than most people who’ve ever lived. I’m not saying it to brag, I’m saying that because it’s a fact and I’m proud of that fact. I did it when everyone else told me I couldn’t or that it was impossible. I powered through it and persisted in spite of the haters and trolls and naysayers. I did what needed to be done.

You can do it too.

Don’t ever be afraid of failing! Have a healthy respect and fear of injury. Know it’s possible. Know there’s a chance of failure, but never ever be afraid of failing. Expect it that way you’re ready when it happens. Do everything to prevent it of course, just realize it can and will happen, be ready, take the hit and keep moving forward.

When you get knocked down. Get back up! Keep going! Power through it! Don’t stop!

I’m reminded of a scene from Rocky where Sylvester Stallone said one of the best quotes about quitting I’ve ever heard. It is the epitome of how to never let failure keep you down. You have to get back up and fight!

“Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done!” ― Sylvester Stallone, Rocky Balboa

Success won’t come to you! You must go to where success is and take it. You must seize it! Grab it by the balls and don’t let go! Make it your bitch!

You do that by never quitting. Never give up! Get up!

Keep moving forward!

You can do it!

Do it!
