My mentor, idol and the person I study and try to emulate is a multi-multi-billionaire, owns multiple billion dollar companies, is revolutionizing multiple industries, blows away the top competitors in those industries, is innovating at a rate faster than anyone has ever imagined possible, and is on track to be to first person to go to another planet. The ironic and slightly painful fact is that this person is only 2 years older than me. He has achieved so much more than I have in about the same amount of time on this planet. Meaning that, if I am honest with myself, I have wasted many years doing it WRONG. Doing almost everything wrong.

From this day forward I make a promise to myself that I will do things differently and continue to evolve and change until I reach the level of success that I want. I will change the way I do things. No more playing at it or trying to make it work. It’s time to get to work. Oh, yeah, do you know who I’m talking about? If you guessed Elon Musk then you are correct. A 46 year old insanely successful and intelligent person with an absolutely insane work ethic and vision for the world. In my opinion he is the smartest man alive today. Maybe he’s not, maybe he would argue otherwise, but the simple fact is he knows how to do things better than most people who have ever lived. That is not an overstatement.

He knows how to build successful companies better than anyone. He does things differently than everyone. He shows us how to do it in a way that’s never been done before, and what’s possible when we look at the world differently than anyone else. He makes me want to change myself and how I look at the world, and what my place is in it.

I have a goal. I have an insane and absolutely crazy goal. It sounds even crazier saying it. It sounds even more insane that I’m writing. It’s a crazy thing to say. Maybe I’m delusional, but I think it’s possible. I BELIEVE IT’S POSSIBLE! I BELIEVE I CAN DO IT!

I will be a billionaire.

It might take me the next decade or more, but I will be a billionaire. $10 billion is my goal. That is good.

With that I can change the world, or at the very least, leave a good legacy for my child, and show her that you can change and shape the world around you. You can mold it, shape it, and make it better. I will do things differently. I will change how I do things. I will change my outlook and my demeanor and my thought process and what I consume.

I will work harder, faster, longer, smarter and be more dedicated than anyone I know or associate with. I will obsess over success, innovation and progress. I will succeed! I will get healthy. I will eat healthy. I will read more, lots more, everything from every great writer, intellectual, philosopher, scientist, and scholar I can get my hands on. I will exercise and workout more and get in the best shape of my life.

I will change who I hang out with, and who I look up to, who I listen to, and who I associate with. I will surround myself with successful people, people who are where I want to be, and people smarter than me so that I may learn from them, but I will temper their advice with my own instincts for what is truly innovative and keep one thing always in sight. What is best for humanity. What will change the world for the better for humanity. I will be more wealthy than I ever thought possible. I will achieve wealth, not just for wealth’s sake, but for what that wealth can do for me and the world.

I need to focus on the big picture. I will be positive. I will look for ways to turn negatives into positives.

By the time I am 50 years old I will be a billionaire. I will do whatever needs to be done to achieve a level of success only small percentage of humanity has ever achieved, and I will do it and keep my humanity.

I will succeed.
